Thompson & Co. Salon & Parlor was officially established in 2015, but our story began in 2007 when Bobby and Kayla Thompson first met at a local hair school in the heart of downtown Iowa City. With a shared passion for the craft, they envisioned a salon that would set trends, not just follow them.

University of Iowa Dance Marathon
Since opening in 2015, weโve been honored to support the University of Iowaโs Dance Marathon, an organization that has raised funds for the Childrenโs Miracle Network for over 25 years. As the official hair salon for UI Dance Marathon, we attend multiple events each year, donating hair to the Childrenโs With Hair Loss foundation. Our team also participates in the BIG Dance Marathon event, offering haircuts and hosting a fashion show for children battling cancer.
Tanager Place
Tanager Place in Cedar Rapids provides a safe haven for children and families in need. Our involvement with Tanager Place began before Thompson & Co. was founded, with our owner, Bobby Thompson, personally visiting the campus to give haircuts. Today, our team continues this tradition, visiting quarterly to provide haircuts for the children, helping them feel special and confident.
Mayorโs Youth Empowerment Program (MYEP)
Supporting personal growth and community involvement, the Mayorโs Youth Empowerment Program (MYEP) in Iowa City is a perfect partner for us. MYEP is dedicated to empowering people with disabilities, and we are proud to welcome their members to our salon each quarter for haircuts and a time to connect.
