DISCOVER Community Coordinated Child Care (4Cs) of Johnson County
ABOUT
4Cs addresses challenges to the community’s child care system and serves as a resource for the development of new programs. They strive to ensure that all children have a quality learning experience, enter school ready to succeed, and reach their full potential. They can assist in finding free, temporary childcare for families facing serious life issues or short-term, emergency childcare for families facing crisis who are not able to provide regular care.
4Cs can also assist the childcare workforce. They develops professional child-centered programs like state regulations, nutrition, child development and behavior, infant care, and meeting quality indicators. They also administer the Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP) to home-based childcare programs throughout our county.

Childcare Programs
HOME TIES
Since 1995, Home Ties has been providing a warm, safe, and nurturing environment for children to grow and learn. They believe that the first five years social-emotional development forms the foundation on which all future learning is built. Therefore, supporting the development of a secure base from which children can move out and explore their world, and the development of basic social skills that will support their later successful transition to school, is a strong focus of this program. Home Ties accepts private pay and child care assistance.
Crisis Child Care
This program provides short-term emergency care when parents are not able to provide regular care. The program’s goal is to reduce the risk of child abuse and to reduce the need for foster care placements by providing temporary child care at no cost to the families in crisis. Care can be provided for a maximum of 72 hours per fiscal year.
Food Programs
Because they believe that proper nutrition is one key to healthy brain development, 4Cs is the local sponsor of the Child Care Food Program in Johnson, Clinton, and Cedar Counties. The goal of this program is to reimburse childcare providers for giving children in their care balanced, nutritious meals.
They also distribute food through a Weekend Backpack Program which provides food to families of children in the 0-5 age range. The intention is to expose families to new foods and healthy, but easy-to-access, snacks. This program is also designed to eliminate the weekend stress of food–finding it, accessing it, cooking it, and/or purchasing it.
Professional Development Program
Designed to support Registered Child Development Homes who may need additional supports, the Starting Strong Program typically take a higher number of children on child care assistance. 4Cs consultants work with these providers on program development, best business practices and increasing early learning activities.
