El Azul Mexican Market, located in the heart of North Liberty, Iowa, is a vibrant marketplace offering a wide selection of authentic Mexican and Latin American goods. Owners Sara Puffer and Edgar Reynoso Ayala, longtime residents of the Iowa City area, transformed the former Family Video store into a space filled with Latin American groceries, freshly baked goods, hot foods, and much more.

Sara and Edgar’s vision for El Azul was born out of a desire to meet their own community’s needs. As North Liberty residents since 2019, they saw the opportunity to bring a daily grocery store with an extensive range of Mexican goods right to their neighborhood, reducing the need to travel for hard-to-find ingredients. El Azul offers a specialized selection of Latin American products, ensuring customers can find authentic items for their kitchens.

Beyond groceries, El Azul also offers convenient services, including document translation, notarization, and money transfers. With Sara’s background in immigration law and fluency in Spanish, they provide essential services that make life easier for their customers.
